About the Job
New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a (Hybrid) full time Senior Staff Accountant. The Senior Staff Accountant will take responsibility for overseeing financial reporting including reviewing reconciliations prepared by Staff Accountant, preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, analyzing monthly financials, and reviewing and approving payroll as prepared by Staff Accountant or Senior Accounting Associate. The Senior Staff Accountant duties also include assisting the Controller with developing the annual budget, assisting with preparing financial statements for annual review performed by outside CPA firm, and assisting with annual retirement plan audits. The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with program leaders and their staff, to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures including exploring how the finance function can support operations. This position will provide mentorship to Staff Accountant I and Senior Accounting Associates.

Required Experience:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review and maintain all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review and approve biweekly payroll
- Review month end Revenue, A/R, and bad debt entry with Controller and post entry once approved.
- Review month end Dispensing A/R entry for Controller review and post entry once approved.
- Review and maintain Inventory, Rebate and Cost of goods sold and review with Controller.
- Review all Depreciation and Amortization entries at month end.
- Review all Standard and Non-Standard Journal entries at month end.
- Responsible for preliminary expense analysis and variance explanations.
- Assists Finance Leadership in:
- Preparing site, service line and provider level analytics.
- Preparing for 401(k) and Cash Balance Plan audits.
- Preparing year-end review and tax preparation package.
- Preparing Financial Packages for Board of Directors.
- Developing operating and capital budgets.
- Participating in financial and managerial aspects of Mutual Strategy Insurance Company, LLC, including recordkeeping as needed.
- Developing proformas.
- Work collaboratively across the organization in support of practice initiatives, providing education on finance and accounting procedures and workflows as appropriate.
- Provide mentorship to the finance team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5-7 years accounting experience, healthcare industry preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Sage Intacct experience preferred
