Position Overview:
The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing a variety of accounting functions within the healthcare management company. This role requires an experienced individual who can ensure accurate financial reporting, adherence to compliance regulations, and support the overall financial health of the company. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and healthcare industry regulations.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Review and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage and support billing and revenue recognition processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in alignment with company policies and industry standards.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and resolution of outstanding issues.
- Prepare and file healthcare-related regulatory reports, including Medicare/Medicaid reporting, as required by federal and state agencies.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting, collaborating with senior management to track and analyze financial performance.
- Support external audits and ensure timely and accurate submission of required documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and enhance financial reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and compliance, to support business objectives and ensure alignment with financial goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or working towards CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or healthcare management setting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, healthcare regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with [insert relevant software, e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing support to other departments as needed.
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing and reporting is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in healthcare financial management, including cost reporting, revenue cycle management, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with accounting for healthcare services, insurance billing, and third-party payers.
- CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
- Strong experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
