About the Job
The Senior Staff Accountant will handle the full-cycle accounting for 3-to-5 properties including producing property-level financials. This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in working for a family office sponsored real estate and operating business investment platform. We are looking for a self-starter who: takes initiative in improving the accounting processes; can dig into the details to reconcile accounts properly with little direction; and creates/develops the necessary schedules or processes for a timely month-end close.
The Senior Staff Accountant should have proficient knowledge of GAAP accounting, strong problem-solving abilities, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and maintain close attention to detail.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle accounting month-end close, AR, AP, & inventory management for designated properties
- Create and develop accounting processes, checklists, spreadsheets, and systems for month-end close so completion is timely, organized, and accurate
- Prepare monthly prepaid slip rental schedules, fixed asset ledgers & rollforwards, prepaid insurance and expense schedules, bank recs, and invoice payments/accounts payable
- Process and review credit card payments and sync them to the general ledger
- Process monthly and yearly slip rental invoices and reconcile payments/accounts receivable
- Post POS ship store retail sales to the general ledger
- Prepare and file concession fee reports and sales tax reports
- Ensure all processes and procedures include segregation of duties, internal controls, and proper AP workflow approvals
- Recommend and help implement best practices of GAAP accounting, segregation of duties, and internal controls and ensure they are being followed at the property level
- Tax filings, and audits
- Review and guide property administrators in the process to ensure we have a W9 on file for all independent contractors and vendors and assist with annual 1099 reporting
- Help prepare and compile documents for audits
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare monthly property-level financial statements
- Prepare monthly budget to actual variance reporting
- Assist with the annual property level budget process
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis requested by executive management, regulatory agencies, banks, investors, and other parties
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- 6+ years of experience in progressive accounting related roles required
- Proficient technical knowledge of GAAP accounting required
- Act with the highest level of integrity
