Pay Range: 34.89 - 56.78

Summary:
The Sr Sponsored Programs Specialist is responsible for the review and submission of applications for extramural funding with attention to both sponsor and University requirements to ensure that all conditions are satisfied prior to submission. The individual will need a deep understanding of grant policies, procedures, submission systems and regulatory requirements--especially those that pertain to proposal development and submission—at a wide range of federal, state, and private/non-profit agencies. The specialist will lead the administration and review of non-profit and complex grants and projects. Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5 years of pre and/or post-award experience in the preparation, processing, and negotiation of grant and contract proposals and awards required.
• Certified Research Administrator certification
• Significant experience and in-depth knowledge of federal and non-federal regulations and guidelines, cost principles, uniform administrative requirements for grants and audits of states, local governments, and non-profit organizations.
• Senior-level skills in pre-award, post-award, and contract administration
• Utilizes and is proficient in Grants.gov, Proposal Central, NIH eRA Commons, eBRAP, and NSF Fastlane.
• Experience reading and interpreting funding opportunity announcements and demonstrated knowledge of pre-award grant submission process preferred.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the review of applications for extramural funding with attention to both sponsor and University requirements to ensure that all conditions are satisfied prior to submission.
• Coordinate administration and review of unusually complex grants and projects such as research centers and program projects.
• Responsible for the review of federal contract submissions and awards.
• Oversees online proposal for non-profit foundation research applications and electronic submission to ensure accuracy and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, institutional policies and procedures.
• Conduct final compliance review of Federal grant applications and progress reports and upon approval, transmit to grant agency/lead applicant.
• Assist in the development and implementation of a formal, comprehensive training program on research administration topics in collaboration with ORA Research Education team.
• Perform one on one training with department staff and researchers as needs arise.
• Develop and provide detailed proposal checklists and timelines to manage workflows and help guide faculty and their staff through the proposal development process.
• Prepare and manage subaward agreements for complex grants and contracts.
• Along with the Director and the Manager, trains, onboards, provides guidance and serves as an informational resource to junior Grant & Contract Specialists.
• Supports the Director by researching issues and advising on new regulatory developments that impact research administration.
• Identify, develop, and implement training tools for the research community.
• Demonstrates cradle-to-grave research administration expertise.
• Oversee and monitor updates and revisions to the grant proposal and management module of the Rush Research Portal as necessary.
• Review Notice of Grant Awards and other financial documents for discrepancies.
• Performs most work activities in a large volume, fast paced, complex, detailed and multifaceted environment.
• Reviews complex budgets and documents. Other relevant duties as required.
