EHR Services has partnered with Covaris, LLC to hire a Senior Software Engineer in Woburn, Massachusetts.
Develop software for laboratory instruments used for biological and chemical applications. Responsible for the entire development cycle - specification, design, implementation, stabilization, and maintenance. Work with field personnel to diagnose issues with instruments deployed at customer sites. Apply extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals when working independently and in conjunction with other team members.
Responsibilities: The employee may be required to perform all or a combination of the following essential responsibilities as determined by business necessity.
- Specify, design, and develop software for new and existing sample preparation products including user interfaces, instrument control, and motion control, in an Agile team environment.
- Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to design interfaces between hardware, firmware, and software, to meet functional and performance requirements.
- Help develop and implement a software architecture that can be applied across Covaris' line of instrument products with a significant amount of code reuse from one instrument to the next.
- Apply creative and problem-solving skills to investigate development, production, and customer problems with new or existing products. Track issues to closure.
- Analyze system and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
- Create detailed design documentation in accordance with industry standards. Perform design and code reviews.
- Help plan and estimate software projects.
- Mentor others
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline with at least 7 years of software development experience.
- Experience with modern software design principles and practices, including dependency injection, SOLID design principles, and design for testability.
- Technologies: C#, .NET, WPF, MVVM design pattern, SQL, Python, PowerShell.
- Experience developing multi-threaded applications.
- Experience with agile development practices such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience with software development tools, such as Visual Studio 2022, Visual Studio Code, Git, Jira, Jenkins, PyCharm.
- Ability to manage time well and work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Good technical writing and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills. Ability to work with minimal direction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline
- Experience developing applications using .NET 6 or 8.
- Experience writing software for laboratory automation such as liquid handlers.
- Experience writing software on the Tecan MAPlinx platform.
- Familiarity with medical device quality standards such as ISO 13485 and IEC 62304.
- Experience developing software for real-time systems.
- Experience developing applications for the web.
