About the Team The Internal Business Intelligence team supports a wide range of College Board programs by providing reporting and services that assist in the preparation leading up to an administration as well as the analysis post administration. This team supports a centralized reporting platform that serves 800+ users, is responsible for providing the necessary information to run email campaigns for various programs and collaborates with others in special projects that support major College Board major initiatives. About the Opportunity As a Senior Software Engineer on the Internal Business Intelligence team, you will be responsible for building reporting solutions and products leveraging complex and/or standard datasets, using an array of diverse technologies, including SQL, Redshift, Tableau, AWS S3/Lambda/Dynamo/RDS/EC2/IAM, and Python. You will take initiative and engage with other engineers to solve problems related to data sourcing and automation. You are not shy about taking on new work you may not have done before while eagerly contributing to all phases of software engineering, including requirements definition and analysis, application design, coding, coaching, testing, deploying, and support. This position will work on a small team solving high-priority challenges relating to educational content development. In this role you will: Design & Implementation (70%) * Cultivate and maintain knowledge of College Board products, data systems and information assets * Build data-driven and insightful reporting solutions from concept to deployment using the best practices and leveraging latest technology * Seek out and understand existing and new product capabilities and determine the best methods for implementation * Continuously develop the skills required to work as part of the team in a poly-skilled development environment Customer Engagement (20%) * Support and understand the business need from the user perspective * Focus on designing and developing effective user-friendly reporting assets including interfaces and outputs. * Contribute towards the broad use visualization throughout the College Board. * Good communication and practical decision-making skills; a believer in good feedback and documentation Team Operations & Success (10%) * Participate in Agile SCRUM ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Grooming, Daily SCRUM, Demo) and contribute to team deliverables * Participate in peer reviews of software engineering artifacts * Assist in the identification and resolution of production issues * Ensure the team is adhering to development standards and security policies and procedures About you * BA/BS required (major in an analytical field desired) * A minimum of 4 to 6+ years work related experience * Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability * Highly proficient with SQL, BI skills, Tableau software preferred, Relational Databases, Data Modeling, MS Office * Comfortable with AWS technology components like S3, Athena, Glue More about you * Experience in hands-on development of reporting applications for the Web in a professional environment * Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously and effectively in a cross-functional team environment. * Versed on the agile methodology and best practices. * Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skill with the ability to work with a diverse set of colleagues, across functions, from different organizations, disciplines, etc. * Self-starter, ability to set priorities, work independently and attain goals. The salary range for a new employee in this position is $144,000 to $157,000.
