Description:Lockwood Hills Federal is seeking a Software Engineer IV to develop and migrate applications in support of the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative.
The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative bridges across US Government agencies to encourage collaboration, facilitate interoperability, and promote best practices for using distributed learning to provide the highest-quality education, training, informal learning.
This position will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions that enhance learning experiences. The position requires extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams to create and manage scalable, secure, and efficient applications for DoD training partners and educational institutions. This position requires superb coding skills, management skills, experience with quality control, strong time-management and administration skills, and strong detail- oriented organizational abilities. Responsibilities:- Designs, develops, and deploys AWS-based applications, services, and infrastructure to support training and education systems
- Collaborates with instructional designers, content creators, and educators to integrate technology into learning environments
- Optimizes cloud resources for cost-effectiveness, scalability, and performance
- Ensures compliance with security and privacy standards in educational settings
- Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to training platforms and content delivery
- Must be US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum Five (5) years of Software Engineering experience
- Strong understanding of networking, programming, and cloud-based technology
- Familiarity with Linux, Python, Java, and other similar languages
- Technical Skills:
- Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
- DevOps and DevSecOps practices
- Security and Solution Architecture
- Operating Systems: All Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems, Linux (RHEL/CentOS)
- Virtualization: VMWare, Vsphere, Citrix XenApp, Hyper-V
- Applications/Services: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, IIS, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Exchange, PowerShell, Visio, Project, Jira, GitLab, Confluence
Desired Qualifications:
- AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Technical Professional, AWS TCO and Cloud Economics) is highly desirable
- VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) certification
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator (MCITP) certification
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification
- CompTIA A+ Certification
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or Educational Technology (EdTech) platforms
- Knowledge of serverless architecture, microservices, and containerization (e.g., AWS Lambda, Amazon ECS, Docker)
- Familiarity with AWS services such as Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Amazon EC2, and Amazon CloudFront
- Ability to design and implement secure APIs for data exchange between systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for improving educational experiences through technology
