Within AI Platform, the Cognitive Services team empowers developers and data scientists around the world and of all skill levels to easily add AI capabilities to their apps.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will work with a unique group of talented applied scientists and engineers on building the best responsible AI capabilities in the industry. You will contribute to the design and implementation of Azure AI Content Safety, Azure Open AI Service and more. We are looking for a motivated, results-oriented, and collaborative Senior Software Engineer who has a passion for Large Language Models (LLMs) and Responsible AI.

**Responsibilities**
+ Work directly with data scientists and researchers to deliver high quality machine learning models.
+ Collaborate effectively with other engineers to build and maintain distributed machine learning systems.
+ Demonstrate keen attention to detail and data interpretation skills to effectively monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues in a live site system.
+ Mentor junior engineers and actively contribute to architectural decisions.
+ Lead the identification and definition of new features to aligning with organizational goals and service improvements.

**Qualifications**
**Required/Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 1+ years of technical engineering experience with cloud services
+ Experience with Deep Neural Network training and inference - with experience in one or more deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow, Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX), etc.)
**Other Requirements:**
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred/Additional Qualifications:**
+ Leadership and collaboration skills.
+ 3+ years of technical engineering experience with cloud services
+ 1+ years technical engineering experience with Deep Neural Network training and inference - with experience in one or more deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow, ONNX, etc.)
+ Experience in designing and leading the development of distributed systems
+ Knowledge of containerization technologies (i.e. Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes)
+ Basic understanding of DevOps practices and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
+ Experience with performance optimization and tuning
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
