Senior Software Engineer ll, Visual Editor - dbt Labs

This role is open to candidates located in the US and Brazil. Only candidates currently located in these countries will be considered.

About the Visual Editor Team: 

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to join the Experience group. In this role, you will partner with product and design to create delightful and powerful tools for analytics engineers. We are building a tailor-made clients IDE, CLI, and a Low Code No Code (LCNC) platform that is deeply-integrated with the dbt ecosystem (including other dbt Cloud products), aiming to put more context at the fingertips of our users than theyre able to get in any other development environment. You will provide technical leadership to the team by doing. Data teams everywhere will use your work to create organizational knowledge and power their daily business decisions.

In this role, you can expect to:

• Build and maintain dbt Cloud clients including the new LCNC platform, IDE and CLI app layer, backend services, performance, and scalability while relentlessly expanding its feature-set and capabilities

• Manage trade-offs, priorities, and deliverables by applying your experience in bringing projects to successful completion

• Work with product to define and instrument important usage metrics and KPIs for the cloud based clients

• Enable teammates to build confidently and quickly via high-leverage tooling, mentorship, and your experience and knowledge of industry trends and practices

• Define quality standards and drive the overall reliability of our services

• Support the career development of team members by providing mentorship and coaching on design patterns, backend architecture, and technical decision-making

Qualifications:

• Have 5-8+ years experience as a software engineer

• Minimum requirement of Bachelors degree in related field (computer science, computer engineering, etc.) OR

• Completed enrollment in engineering related bootcamp

You are a good fit if you: 

• Have experience with using Python or Go to create scalable full-stack applications. For example, you have built services for applications with complex workflows

• Enjoy working closely with product and design

• Value interacting with end-users and deeply understand their needs

• Understand how to make tradeoffs to ship useful features today without sacrificing long-term quality

• Prefer to work in the backend, but have experience with the frontend and can reason about the end-to-end system

• Have experience collaborating with multiple teams (e.g,. infra, upstream services, etc.) to drive projects and features to completion

Youll have an edge if you: 

• Have worked on an application similar to this one, such as a visual design tool, an analytics application, or an IDE

• Have experience scaling applications, especially those with runtimes in Kubernetes and AWS

• Have experience working in a distributed company

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary: $185,000 - $220,000 USD
