Job Description: The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, WI will develop software solutions using engineering API design practices. Enhance and modernize top tier applications to maximize efficiency across multiple platforms. Architect and design targeted experiments for rapid prototyping. Perform peer reviews on code and design to ensure compliance with coding standards and best practices. Contribute to technical design discussions and decision-making for responsible applications. Utilize Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, NodeJS, TypeScript, and Webservices. Work with SQL, No-SQL, and Vector databases. Perform cloud-native, modern application design, batch processing, microservices backend and AI/ML workloads. Build cloud applications using CICD concepts and Terraform. Work in an Agile software development lifecycle, utilizing JIRA and Git Source Control. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arise during development and post-implementations. Conduct application performance tuning using quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Design integration tests for applications and verify performance tests. Mentor, provide guidance, and support junior software engineers. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $108,568- $203,840 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field, plus 5 years as a software developer or related occupation. Experience must include 3 years of experience with each of the following: (1) Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, NodeJS, TypeScript, and Webservices; (2) Database experience including SQL, No-SQL, and Vector databases; (3) cloud-native, modern application design, batch processing, microservices backend and AI/ML workloads; (4) using CICD concepts to build cloud applications using tools including Terraform; (5) Agile software development lifecycle, JIRA, and Git Source Control; and (6) performing root cause analysis of production support issues.
