This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Job Description
Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is gathering motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer candidates to support future operations in our Hanover, MD location.
This position will support a software suite known as the Minotaur Mission Management System. Minotaur ingests data from various sensors on manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft to enhance an operator’s ability to identify tracks from various on-board sensors, from both sea and land. Responsibilities would include developing new or improving existing capabilities to a operationally fielded system. Support all stages of the software engineering, including design, implementation, integration, and test.
Subject areas may differ over time, but current projects focus on improving the exploitation of airborne sensor data through object tracking, multi-sensor correlation, and operational data display.
Possible Duties Include:
- Directly engage with customer to build product backlog for Scrum team
- System design and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes incorporating a variety of engineering disciplines: control theory, software development, signal/video processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, artificial intelligence, high performance computing, applied mathematics, network/web services, and visualization
- Support prototype evaluation and experimental operations at military facilities
- Support system integration events on various aircraft during ground and/or flight tests
- Develop and test software interfaces that control and ingest data from ISR sensors, including RADAR, SIGINT, and EO/IR systems
- Potential to fly on aircraft to support system integration and train operators
- Design and implementation of graphical user interfaces to meet customers’ demands and needs
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
- Task lead for a small team of developers
- Willing to travel between 10-20 % of the time
Essential Job Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in software development involving programming languages such as Java and/or C++
- Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a security clearance
- Willingness to work in Hanover, MD
Preferred Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with software development of algorithms, computer networking and interfaces in a cutting edge environment
- Prior experience with Minotaur Mission Management System
- Prior experience with Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment
- Previous leadership experience or willingness to lead and mentor othersDemonstrated ability to successfully apply educational background to real-world engineering problems
