Senior Software Developer
Job Description:
Under limited supervision, the Senior Software Developer provides program/component design and construction leadership and expertise as a senior technical member of a project team. This position defines scope, objectives and design specifications for individual and closely related programs and system components operative in a networked or web-based environment. This position also performs detailed specification, construction, testing, debugging, documentation and related performance enhancement and support tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Business Analysts and other software developers to design and develop software applications of all levels of complexity
- Provide technical leadership in component design and development
- Coach, mentor, and train other staff in the use of component design methods and tool use
- Develop program/component specifications
- Develop resource estimates for technical tasks
- Develop test cases, scenarios and scripts to confirm programming success
- Code and maintain programs/components
- Prepare and conduct unit tests
- Develop program/component and client documentation as required
- Conduct program/component implementation and integration
- Maintain application programming environment through routine program/component maintenance
- Provide support for applications in production including resolution of production problems and responding to client (user) inquiries
- Provide problem resolution tracking and administration of assigned incidents
- Participate in the technical evaluation of application packages and/or tools
- Participate in the administration and testing of contingency and business recovery plans
- Participate in the development of internal control procedures
- Participate in the development and administration of Company automation standards
- Participate in special projects and provide project leadership for small to medium sized projects as requested
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Education & Other Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, AND a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience is required, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expert knowledge of program/component design and construction tools and techniques
- Proficiency in documenting system designs/configurations
- Ability to prioritize and follow-up on tasks
- Ability and willingness to collaborate and work well in a fast-paced, ever-changing, team environment
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as necessary
- Good oral and written communication skills regardless of audience
- Ability to solve problems independently, quickly and completely, and communicate them clearly to all involved parties.
- Strong desire to acquire additional knowledge, skills, and abilities

- ASP.NET Web Forms
- HTML, CSS and Javascript
- C# and .NET Framework
- Visual Studio
- Transact-SQL and MS SQL Server
- Object Relational Mapping Framework
- Git/SVN (or another source code repository)
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and adopting modern architectural patterns
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with Telerik ASP.NET AJAX UI components
- Experience with Aspose for .NET components
- Experience with MS Reporting Services
- Experience in financial services and/or student educational lending
- Experience implementing RESTful APIs or other types of APIs
