Summary
The senior Engineer works closely with the semiconductor (wafer and chip) production lines to equip the state-of-the-art technology in manufacturing and future production development, and to support the routine operation and future growth of the semiconductor products division. In this position, the senior engineer is responsible for a variety of tasks such as planning and managing fab facility, product design and modeling, current and future production equipment for wafer growth, wafer process, and chip production departments.
Job Duties
- Semiconductor fab equipment and facility planning.
- Product development through designing and modeling.
- New equipment specification, installation and qualification.
- Upgrade or modify existing equipment.
- Track equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Analyze and troubleshoot equipment issues to find the root cause.
- Work with tool/equipment vendors for scheduling and conducting required preventive maintenance.
- Manage spare parts and backup equipment, reduce cost and improve operation efficiency.
- Support equipment audits including annual physical count.
- Participate in determining and providing an optimum plan of equipment operation, space requirements and related facilities for assigned areas.
- Provide the production team with in-depth training and technical guidance.
- Develop/Review/Revise work instructions and procedures in support of manufacturing processes.
- Help resolve manufacturing constraints, ease production line and reduce risk.
- Support develop and implement new processes and equipment.
- Manage cleanrooms facility, DI water, chilled water, gases and toxic gas monitoring.
- Work with EHS on toxic waste treatment.
- May require on-call for nights and weekends to minimize down time of the production line.
- May supervise other equipment and process engineers and technicians.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering, Physics or Chemistry
- Minimum 5 years of directly related work experience in the semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom environment
- Hands-on experience in dealing with mechanical, vacuum, electrical, and chemical equipment
- Experience in wafer process steps including lithography, deposition, plating and etching is a plus
- Familiar with inspection tools including optical microscope, profilometer, ellipsometer, AFM and SEM (scanning electron microscope)
- Strong programing and data analysis skills. Familiar with LabView, Python, MS Access, SQL.
- Strong troubleshooting, monitoring, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across all business levels and functions
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Senior engineer may need the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds, stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs. daily and climb stairs

Must be comfortable handling chemicals, including corrosive acids, bases, solvents, etc.

Must be comfortable with wearing cleanroom garments and other personal protective equipment with no make-up
Location
This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
