Position Summary:
The Global Platform Senior Scientist conducts research directed toward discovery and/or development on a research and development project or a number of small projects with many features under minimal supervision using established and novel technology. This position will be accountable for project deliverables and will lead small teams as part of a larger project.
In this role, the individual ensures that quality system (Design Controls, Risk Management) and business process R&D deliverables and requirements are successfully met. The Senior Scientist leads experimental plans and writes technical reports.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Work toward the identification, assessment and development of new scientific concepts and technologies. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and contribute to intellectual property initiatives. (30%)
2. Ensure that quality system (Design Controls, Risk Management) and business process R&D deliverables and requirements are successfully met for new contact lens products. (30%)
3. Work independently and collaborate with cross functional teams to perform research where analysis of situations or data requires and in-depth evaluation of various identifiable factors in one or more areas. Lead the development of experimental plans and author technical reports. (20%)
4. Ensure quality conduct of projects, including design, data summary and interpretation, report and manuscript preparation and review and adherence to applicable regulations. (10%)
5. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. (10%) Qualifications:
Required :
• A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a Scientific Discipline
• A minimum of 4 years R&D experience with a BS OR a minimum of 2 years R&D experience with MS
• Strong business acumen and basic knowledge of contact lens products and competitive landscape
• Basic experience with the application of principles, concepts, and practices of the research & development of novel contact lens materials, designs, or processes
• Demonstrated record of delivering project results
• Familiarity with statistical analysis and design of experiments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with abilities to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment and effectively present complex information to diverse audiences.
Preferred :
• A degree in Physics, Chemistry OR Biology
• Basic knowledge of Ocular & Clinical Science and Physiology
