The Opportunity
Our client is a global Fortune 500 Energy and Utility leader who has created an incubation stage company geared entirely towards meeting decarbonization goals. Their goal is to automate construction processes in the solar industry via Robots throughout the United States. This pioneering role is based in Arlington, VA, and will require a minimum of 30% travel throughout the US to client sites. Reporting to the Head of Product, your main focus in this role will be optimizing the operating cycle time of the robots and improving the quality of the application software (ROS2).
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement advanced control algorithms for robotic systems, including motion planning, trajectory generation, and sensor fusion
- Maintain software architecture integrate new learning from the application itself, and help it grow naturally
- Debug and adjust ROS2 when required
- Translate product-level requirements into technical design criteria
- Lead the development and integration of robotic hardware and software components
- Conduct rigorous testing and validation of robotics systems to meet performance and safety requirements
- Research, develop, implement, and test new capabilities for industrial robotics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of robotics solutions into complex systems while aligning with the product roadmap.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience with Robotic Operation System (ROS) and/or ROS2
- Hands-on experience integrating a sensor or actuator into an existing ROS system
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science or Robotics
- Programming experience with Python, and/or C++
- Previous exposure to robotics platforms and sensor systems
- Experience programming KUKA robots is a plus
- Entrepreneurial-minded with preferred exposure to start-up environments
- Experience resolving customers' issues either 1 on 1 or on-site
