Your Impact
As Axon's Sr Revenue Accountant, you will be part of a highly collaborative team which partners with Professional Services and Commercial Controllership to ensure the monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue and deferred cost numbers are complete and accurate. What You'll Do
Location: Hybrid Onsite Presence based at our US Hubs - Scottsdale, Boston, Washington, DC, San Francisco, or Atlanta (2-3 days per week onsite)
Reports to: Senior Manager, Accounting
- Develops a deep understanding of the Company's lead-to-cash cycle, with a particular focus on how quoting through revenue recognition is affected by upstream processes and data and how they affect downstream processes and data to optimize overall customer and Company outcomes
- Proactively manages and communicates throughout the monthly and quarterly financial close process across all stakeholders, including Commercial Controllership, FP&A, SEC Reporting, Accounting Operations, Tax, Sales, Commercial Operations, Internal Audit, external auditors and executive leadership.
- Proactively manages internal stakeholder expectations through monitoring and reporting key metrics on the Revenue Accounting organization's performance relative to quality, accuracy, and timeliness
- Utilizes deep understanding of the Company's quoting, ordering and revenue recognition systems and processes to draft, implement and execute policies and procedures to facilitate an effective and efficient revenue close cycle
- Conducts training of both the stakeholders affected by these processes as well as the professionals who perform quoting and order processing
- Partners with the information technology department to develop robust requirements for system enhancements, robust testing of all system changes before they go into production and proactive monitoring of system performance
- Partners with other functions to enable timely and accurate reporting on KPIs and metrics as well as informing insights on how the Company can improve performance relative to those KPIs and metrics
- Proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes, systems, and productivity to enable the Company to continue to scale as it grows both in existing markets and in new markets across both domestic and global geographies and customer segments
- Review and maintain accurate processing of and accounting for professional service related activities, including management of work orders and related events
- Review and maintain accurate processing of and accounting for RMA and related activities, including working directly with Supply Chain teams to enhance controls and reporting
- Prepare and book journal entries to ensure the appropriate revenue and cost treatments
- Prepare and present data to the Professional Services teams, providing analysis for capacity and strategic planning
- Perform monthly revenue related tasks and analysis including monthly revenue close process and reconciliations related to deferred cost accounts
- You will ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, and internal controls
- Support all internal and external audit activities, including SOX Compliance
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Bring a fresh viewpoint to help identify ways to improve the processes and efficiency as we move through a phase of rapid growth and technology change
- There will be some late nights and weekends as part of this dynamic and dedicated team
What You Bring
- Bachelor or higher degree in Business Administration or Financial Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, or ability to qualify, preferred
- 3-5 years of accounting and analysis experience, revenue a plus
- Recent public accounting experience or revenue experience with a publicly-traded company highly desirable
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with financial and non-financial management
- Experience and knowledge working with ASC 606 compliance guidelines
- Superb attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Salesforce and RevStream software knowledge is a plus
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team setting
- Concern for quality and deadlines
- Ability to influence and build consensus
