Join Our Team as a Senior Residential Mortgage Loan Underwriter
Are you an experienced professional in consumer and residential mortgage underwriting? Join First Federal as a Sr. Residential Loan Underwriter and play a pivotal role in maintaining the quality of our loan portfolio while driving process improvements. Under the supervision of the Chief Credit Officer, you'll leverage your deep knowledge of lending programs, policies, and regulations to deliver exceptional results. Located on-site with our team at our corporate headquarters in McMinnville, Oregon, this is not a remote position.
What You'll Do:
- Analyze and underwrite consumer and residential mortgage loans to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Assess property, financial, and borrower qualifications, ensuring sound credit decisions.
- Provide advanced cash flow analysis for complex borrower profiles, including self-employed and rental income scenarios.
- Collaborate with loan officers to resolve application challenges and recommend loan approvals or modifications.
- Stay ahead of industry changes, updating underwriting practices and policies.
- Train branch managers and loan officers on underwriting standards as needed.
- Maintain compliance with key regulations such as Reg B, Reg C, Reg Z, RESPA, and others.
- Serve on the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) committee and contribute to community impact.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or advanced training in appropriate discipline and relevant professional experience, as well as 7-10 years of lending experience with at least 5 years in residential underwriting.
- In-depth knowledge of lending regulations and secondary market practices (FHLMC, FNMA).
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, including tax returns and financial statements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and loan software systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Licensing compliance with the SAFE Act, including registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to meet bonding requirements.
