We are currently seeking a passionate individual for the position of a Full Time Senior Residential Counselor in our Westbury Community Residence Program. In this crucial role, assist individuals in developing independent living skills to increase their self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and self-worth. You provide hands-on training and assist with the activities of daily living as well as provide counseling, behavioral intervention, and crisis management for adults living with severe mental illness.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise household management activities to ensure conformance with program standards, regulations, and budgetary guidelines
- Scheduling of monthly fire drills
- Responsible for coordinating shopping, cooking, laundry, maintenance, recreation, meal planning and household functions, etc., of the household
- Coordinate staff contacts with local service providers as needed to assist residents in accessing services and to jointly plan for discharge
- Schedule staff coverage of residence along with administrator
- Convene staff for appropriate staff meetings when needed
- Maintenance and submission of payroll and petty cash requests
- Conduct scheduled house meetings with residents
- Ensure that residents are fully apprised of requirements of the program and ensure compliance
- Train and assist residents in activities of daily living skills and assist residents in financial management when necessary
- Provide counseling, behavioral intervention, and crisis management service
- Responsible for on-call duties and proper notification of Administrator or Program Director of all medical/psychiatric emergencies; on-call duties of 3 residences on a rotating basis
- Attend inter- and intra-agency meetings as requested by administration
- Write progress notes on a daily basis of resident's activities
- Responsible for medication procedures of residence
- Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of staff office
- Responsible for the overall supervision of service planning, case conferences, discharge planning as well as Medicaid billing and rehabilitative services
- Assist and or model the various techniques required to maintain a clean and healthy living environment
- Responsible for other related activities.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma with related experience required
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services preferred
- Related experience working with people living with mental illness or other disabilities that require assistance in day to day living highly preferred
- Physical Requirements: Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours, may push or pull 10-15 pounds daily, may push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- A valid NYS Driver's License in good standing

Schedule: Sunday 7am-3pm , Monday 7am-3pm, Tuesday 7am-3pm, Wednesday 12pm-8pm, Thursday 11am-7pm
