Overview
The Senior Accountant performs general ledger accounting relating to the preparation of financial statements for Corporate Management, Buckingham Foundation, and various entities. The Senior Accountant provides financial information necessary to make sound business decisions thus enhancing the value of company assets. The Senior Accountant provides expertise in accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Training & Education:● Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related area● CPA preferredExperience:● Minimum of five (5) years previous accounting experience● High degree of Excel expertise, including VBA/MACRO proficiency ● Multi-Family Property Management, Development and/or Construction accounting experience a plus● Excellent computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Office, Yardi software a plusSpecial Requirements:● High degree of professionalism● Exceptional communication and collaboration skills● Transparency, reporting and sharing information effectively across all departments● Strong analytical skills● Results-oriented and solution-focused● High degree of accountability and ownership● Excellent judgment and decision making skills● Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multitask, prioritize and meeting challenging deadlines● Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
Responsibilities
● Serves as a technical specialist in the areas of YARDI, Excel, VBA, and Power BI to design, develop, implement, and maintain improved accounting processes, practices, procedures, and reporting to best achieve ownership policy objectives.● Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including account reconciliations, for assigned entities.● Prepares quarterly consolidated financial statements, for assigned consolidated entities ● Review financial reporting packages prepared by Property Accountants, for assigned entities● Distributes financial reporting to property staff, investors, corporate staff, governmental bodies, and lenders, for assigned entities● Responsible for maintaining accurate cash balances, for assigned entities.● Responsible for ensuring real estate tax, other tax, insurance, and debt service invoices are paid timely, for assigned entities..● Responsible for cash planning, including review of payables for weekly check run selections for assigned entities● Maintains fixed asset database for depreciation and amortization calculations.● Assists in annual budget preparation for properties● Prepares onboarding Accounting of new development/construction properties into the Property Management portfolio● Prepares client assistance packages for use by independent CPA firms for preparation of audits, reviews and tax returns● Assists with accounting-related questions for property staff, investors, corporate staff, and independent CPA firms● Other duties as assigned by supervisor
