Entegris is looking for an innovative Senior R&D Equipment Engineer for the Membrane R&D group within Entegris’ Liquid Filtration Business Unit. This position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus. As part of the Membrane R&D organization you will help facilitate the development and scale up of novel and advanced membranes by scoping, procuring, commissioning and qualifying equipment for use in both development and production. We are seeking a candidate who can own both large scale capital equipment installs as well as provide support for various one-off development needs related to equipment and fixturing. In addition, someone in this role may help support manufacturing by offering and executing equipment centric solutions to potential issues related to yield, capacity, and capability. You will play a key role in this exciting journey to take an idea to market.
This role is primarily a M-F 8a-5p shift, however, there must be some flexibility in work schedule and be able to work occasional non-standard. This a hybrid opportunity (on-site and work-from-home.)
In this role you will:- Work with equipment vendors to scope, design, build, install, and commission new R&D and production scale equipment.
- Drive readiness of a new membrane manufacturing line. Work with Operations, Quality and Development teams to ensure all requirements are met.
- Engage with a variety of stakeholders including, Facilities, EHS, Procurement, R&D, Maintenance and Reliability, Controls Engineering and Operations personnel to lead needed capital through the entire process.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Maintenance and Reliability (DfMR) principles to optimally design and build necessary equipment. This may include chairing HAZOp assessment teams during design phase.
- Use a variety of inputs to develop a coherent specification document that clearly defines all aspects of the project.
- Manage projects to stay within timing, budget, and quality constraints.
- Work with and manage multiple vendors to ensure final equipment requirements are fulfilled.
- Use core project management principles and techniques to report progress to Management team.
- Use CAD to design equipment/subcomponents and source/create fixtures to enable the assets to be used for a variety of form factors and process flows.
- Source new vendors and work with current vendors to clarify requirements and set expectations to be down selected in the bid process for new equipment. Develop and use comparative assessments tools to aid the down selection process.
- Work with Engineers, Maintenance and Reliability personnel and Operations to define PM programs (including spares inventories, frequency, and timing, etc) for new assets. May require the use of criticality assessments and FMEA’s in concert with the Engineering staff.
- Develop new solutions to existing membrane manufacturing challenges such as improving yield, increasing capacity and minimizing variation.
- Communicate with multicultural cross functional team and build consensus to drive projects to completion in a timely manner.
- Provide documentation support such as creating/maintaining drawings, SOPs, test procedures, test data.
- Perform wide variety of research and development tasks.
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required
- 8-10 years of experience required
- Must have both strong hands-on and analytical problem-solving skills
- Proven Project Management skills and experience
- Working knowledge of IQ/ OQ/ PQ protocols
- CAD/SolidWorks experience and reasonable expertise
- Experience in membrane manufacturing processes a plus
- Experience in lean manufacturing and/or six sigma certification
- Must be able to work collaboratively while thinking independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be a strong contributor to a cross-functional development team
- Up to 25% travel required
Work Environment
- This is a manufacturing environment. It involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and moderate to high noise levels.
- Person may be required to interact with on-site manufacturing warehouse.
