Cordoba Corporation, a leading civil engineering firm based in California, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior QA Engineer to play a pivotal role in our Facilities Sector. This role involves contributing to the development and revisions of the Source Inspection Quality Management Plan (SIQMP) for off-site fabricated materials, performing reviews of Quality Control Plans (QCP), Shop Drawings, and Submittals, and participating in peer reviews of Inspection Reports. The individual will act as the main contact for materials issues with the Implementing Agency, attend pre-fabrication and pre-construction meetings and audits, and maintain regular communication with the Resident Engineer (RE) and Senior Resident (SR). They will provide timely structural materials recommendations, anticipate and resolve quality assurance and source inspection issues, conduct Risk Assessments (RA) on materials, verify fabrication facilities or materials are pre-qualified, perform necessary audits, document engineering judgments, and ensure all issues are resolved before materials are shipped. Additionally, they will provide clear and effective recommendations to clients.
Responsibilities:- Provides input on the development (when possible) of the Source Inspection Quality Management Plan (SIQMP), which will be the guiding document for management of materials that are fabricated or produced outside of the jobsite.
- Coordinates revisions to the SIQMP.
- Performs Quality Control Plan (QCP) reviews.
- Performs Shop Drawing reviews.
- Performs Submittal reviews.
- Participates in peer reviewing Inspection Reports.
- Serves as Implementing Agency point of contact on materials issues.
- Participates in pre-fabrication meetings, pre-construction meetings, and pre-fabrication audits
- Meets regularly with the RE/SR to establish and maintain open lines of communication throughout the life of the contract.
- Provides clear, effective and timely structural materials and recommendations to the SR/SR
- Anticipates and resolves any issues associated with quality assurance and source inspection while maintaining standards, consistency, contract schedule and contract cost
- Performs a Risk Assessment (RA) on all materials to determine if material requires source inspection.
- Verifies fabrication facilities or materials are evaluated or pre-qualified for the project.
- Performs fabrication facility audits, if deemed necessary.
- Documents when engineering judgment is used on an SMR Report or Material Suitability.
- Documentation Report, Blue Tag. All SMR reports must be signed or co-signed by a registered engineer.
- Verifies that all issues and non-conformances are resolved before material is tagged and shipped to the jobsite.
- Provides clear, effective and timely structural materials and recommendations to clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, materials science, or a related field
- Professional Civil Engineering (PE) Registration in the State of California
- Minimum ten (10) years’ experience, 5 of which should be in Construction Materials Engineering and Testing
- Proven experience in quality assurance and materials inspection, preferably in transportation infrastructure projects
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and material including Caltrans Standard Specifications
- Proven track record of collaborating and working in client environments
- Understands and adheres to safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Valid CA driver's license
- Required to pass and complete company motor vehicle safety and defensive driver training
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with company policy
- Must have knowledge of construction process and basic design principles, the materials used in projects including welding, precast concrete, coatings, roadway materials, structural fasteners, and general materials mechanics and properties. Industry practices for fabrication of structural components
- Must have the ability to interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings, communicate clearly and efficiently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software
- Excellent communication abilities
Salary Range: $135,200 to $197,600 per year
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Work Environment: Onsite
Physical Requirements: Work is performed in both office and field settings, with exposure to various weather conditions and construction environments.
Travel: Extensive travel may be required, including overnight stays and long-term assignments at different project sites
