Public Records Office is part of the Division of Equal Opportunity and Compliance led by the Vice Chancellor of Equal Opportunity and Compliance. The purpose of the Public Records Office is to provide access to public information concerning the conduct of the people's business. This access is a fundamental right of people that are interested in the operations of UC Irvine.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of public records and information practices issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for performing accurate searches in response to requests. Primarily deals with requests for public records, educational records or Information Practices requests for personal data which are complex in nature and diverse in scope.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Public Records Office, the Senior Public Records Analyst processes requests for public documents received under the California Public Records Act (PRA), Information Practices Act (IPA), and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Incumbent will exercise considerable independent judgment to refine requests, determine the scope of the request and review the items collected for responsiveness. Incumbent will establish rapport with UCI senior managers and other university employees to assist with the collection of records. Consistently and thoroughly review collections to identify confidential, sensitive or exempt material that should be withheld from disclosure. The scope of responsibility spans the entire UC Irvine Campus and UC Irvine Health organization.
Interprets information management policy and legislation, providing advice to senior management, faculty, managers, supervisors, information technology/systems developers and administrators, academic and nonacademic staff, students, media, and the public.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $69,500- $96,500 (Annual).
Required:
- Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels and diversity of employees and members of the public, both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate using professional correspondence, reports and presentations. Ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders. Skills and experience to de-escalate communications with highly emotional and intense requesters or record holders.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Sound judgment and analytical / problem-solving skills.
- Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and ability to sustain productivity over extended periods.
- Strong policy analysis techniques, project management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail with superior analytical, writing, editing and document review skills. Demonstrated ability to produce work of the highest quality.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, where document collection, review and customer service were significant portions of the work.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of public records laws, practices and strategies.
- Familiarity with University of California administrative and academic organizational structure, mode of governance, general policies, procedures, and regulations preferred.
- Experience with public sector records management.
- Experience working in the public sector or higher education environment
