We are seeking a SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT who manages and oversees the accounting operations for a portfolio of assets in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and record journal entries to properly reflect all cash and accrual activity for a portfolio of properties according to GAAP standards.
- Review monthly property financial reports, lender reports, and budget to actual variances.
- Serve as a technical resource to the Property Accounting team and other internal business units.
- Work closely with various departments such as Asset Management, Property Management, Fund and Corporate Accounting professionals to ensure accounting information accurately and comprehensively reflects property activity in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Track and ensure compliance with deadlines for all relevant duties.
- Provide ongoing reviews of leasing activity such as maintenance of tenant profiles and ledgers.
- Provide ongoing support to others for understanding the setup and functionality of Yardi and serve as an internal subject matter expert.
- Perform CAM reconciliations by managing all aspects of operating expense recoveries as applicable.
- Conduct ongoing job cost accounting reviews by tracking and recording building and tenant improvements.
- Maintain GAAP fixed assets register and depreciation schedules.
- Work closely with other teams to ensure accurate recording and smooth onboarding related to asset acquisitions and dispositions.
- Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or related degree is required.
- Strong accounting skills and GAAP accounting required.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and trial balance flux analysis preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate industry preferred.
- General understanding of real estate legal documents (leases, property management agreement, purchase and sale agreement, etc.)
- Prior experience in Yardi Voyager, or similar accounting system, and AvidXchange is a plus.
- Strong communicator with excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels and functions across the company.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, follow through on assignments, assess changing conditions, and make recommendations with supporting analysis.
- Self-motivated with an effective interpersonal and collaborative working style, along with a strong work ethic and a “roll up your sleeves” attitude.
- Proficient Excel skills and familiarity with Google productivity tools are required.
- Experience with commercial real estate highly preferred, with focus on office or retail asset class.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

The annual base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $101,000, and the role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
