Our company is seeking a seasoned, dynamic, and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant who specializes in Multifamily Properties. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, high-growth environment in the Accounting + Finance industry. As a Senior Property Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting aspects of our multifamily properties portfolio. You will be an integral part of our team, reporting directly to the Finance Director, and working closely with property managers and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage all aspects of the accounting cycle for a portfolio of multifamily properties.
2. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
3. Conduct monthly and year-end closings, including the preparation of journal entries and general ledger (GL) reconciliations.
4. Coordinate with property managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting of property operations.
5. Review and approve property-level accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management transactions.
6. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
7. Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate periodic audits and reviews.
8. Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and corporate policies and procedures.
9. Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, with a focus on multifamily properties.
3. Proficiency in general ledger (GL) systems and month-end closing processes.
4. Solid understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
5. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
7. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
8. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
9. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
10. CPA certification or equivalent is preferred but not required.
