Job Details
Job Title: Senior Property Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each property.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage budgets for each property.
- Monitor and report on budget variances.
- Assist in the preparation of long-term forecasts and strategic planning.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage and oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely collection of rents and other payments.
- Review and approve vendor invoices and process payments.
Reconciliation:
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, tenant accounts, and general ledger accounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Prepare for and coordinate audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and complete.
- Tax and Regulatory Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting property accounting.
Financial Analysis and Support:
- Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to support property management and decision-making.
- Participate in lease administration and review lease agreements for accounting implications.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
2+ years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with occasional site visits to properties.
