Job Title: Experienced Project Manager – Utility Construction
Job Overview:
- The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.
- This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
- The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Management:
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
Resource Management:
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during the project cycle.
Budget and Schedule Management:
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Manage project budget and resource allocation.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Monitor and report on the project’s progress, problems, and solutions.
- Implement project quality assurance practices.
Risk Management:
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution, preferably in the utility construction industry.
- Strong familiarity with project management software.
- Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies.
- Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) are advantageous.
