Transportation Geomatics Director - VHB

About the Position

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to join our team as the Geomatics Director within the Transportation Market. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall program and project management, ensuring the high performance of the Geomatics group. You will deploy and scale the Geomatics team to execute large transportation projects requiring multi-tiered management, while also developing and growing the service line and staff, typically overseeing a team. Utilizing data-driven technologies, you will establish and promote QA/QC and workflow processes that guarantee the highest quality products for VHB clients. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Service Line

• Develops and directs service line strategies and initiatives that support VHB’s strategic plan and regional business planning/strategic pursuits within the transportation market.
• Aligns service offerings to VHB’s transportation market requirements.
• Collaborates with regional leadership to identify and provide new services or skills.
• Develops growth plans. Identifies market opportunities and strategies, such as key hires and the development of business opportunities while meeting the expectations of internal stakeholders.
• Monitors and maintains the financial performance of the Geomatics group.

Data-Driven Technologies

• Promotes the awareness of available technologies within the Geomatics team.
• Identifies and deploys leading-edge work processes, technologies, and applications to execute projects more effectively and better serve clients.
• Develops client solutions benefitting from advancements and applications of data and technologies.

QA/QC Practices

• Works with leadership groups to develop and implement consistent work processes and standards.
• Works with discipline groups to develop and implement quality plans.
• Reviews client and quality audit feedback and develops plans to implement best practices across the region.

Project Management

• Creates project plans, identifies, and organizes resources, and successfully executes projects to completion.
• Develops, monitors, and maintains project budgets, scopes, and schedules.
• Promotes work sharing across offices and advises on the deployment of staff on major projects and pursuits.
• Manages a team of Geomatics professionals. Carries out supervisory responsibilities, including hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; coaching and motivating; and addressing problems.

• Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience managing Geomatics projects, including 10+ years of client/staff/project management.
• BS in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, Reality Capture, or related field.
• Professional Land Surveyor license preferred Skills & Knowledge
• Excellent management skills with an emphasis on performance recognition and development.
• Ability to strategically identify and implement innovative ideas that add value.
• Proficient in a broad array of technical skills with professional mastery.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with others.
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.

Work Environment Requires ability to work in a busy office environment with significant computer use. May require outdoor work in varying weather conditions and terrains, as well as overnight travel in support of projects in varying locations.
