Toyoda Gosei North America (headquartered in Troy, MI) has an opening for a Senior Project Manager in the Safety Systems Engineering department. The Sr. Project Manager functions with a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for serving as a main contact with customers and managing engineering projects for Toyoda Gosei (TG) North America Corporation (TGNA), and TG Americas Manufacturing Companies (AMCs).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Project manager for safety systems engineering projects
- Track internal and customer engineering issues
- Track internal and customer general program issues
- Create/track internal and customer program timing
- Window person to customer
- Facilitate communication between engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, sales, supply chain
- Chair regular program meetings internally, with customer, and with suppliers
- Create and track engineering program budget
- Drive optimization by being actively engaged in continuous improvement efforts (kaizen)
- This role requires the completion of other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelors degree preferred, Associates degree required
- Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive engineering process
- Willingness and ability to travel as required for assignments. Duration could be up to a week at a time at customer and/or manufacturing sites
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Previous experience with Japanese companies is a plus
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suites 2007 or newer is required
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines is required
- Effective verbal, non-verbal, negotiation and written communication skills are required
- Ability to sustain a high degree of professionalism in interacting with internal and external customers is required
- Effective attention to detail, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills is required
