Responsibilities:
What you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems Hartford office is looking for a Design Services Manager with proven leadership ability and significant experience and demonstrated technical excellence in planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of varied transportation projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs engineering assignments: preparation of reports, plans, specifications and analyses.
- Plans and develops projects including definition of scope, preparation of schedule and development of budgets.
- Tracks project progress and ensures completion within established time frame and budget.
- Interacts with personnel throughout the company, subconsultants, clients and contractors.
- Provide team leadership. Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of a staff of engineers and technicians.
- Develops and presents proposals/presentations to clients or in public forums.
- Other duties as may be assigned to meet business needs.
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering from an accredited engineering curriculum.
- Minimum 10 years’ responsible experience in design and management of transportation engineering assignments.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer required.
- Experience working with Connecticut, Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island DOTs required.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to solve problems and plan tasks with an understanding of "Critical Path Management".
- Ability to clearly describe observations and convey information with sketches and technical writing.
- Ability to coordinate the activities of team members, subconsultants and subcontractors/vendors.
- Leadership – Exhibits confidence in self and others; Inspires and motivates others to perform well; Inspires respect and trust; Accepts feedback from others; Provides vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates; Gives appropriate recognition to others; Mobilizes others to fulfill the vision.
- Client Service - Responds promptly to client needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments; Ability to independently maintain client relationships and market the firm’s services.
- PC literate – Microsoft Office Suite.
- Engineering software systems: AutoCAD; MicroStation/GeoPak; In Roads, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D.
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
- Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.
What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:
- Master’s Degree in Civil engineering from an accredited engineering curriculum.
- More than 15 years experience in design and management of transportation engineering assignments.
