Position Summary: REMOTE LOCAL IN HOUSTON, TEXAS. A hands-on role in the IT Department focused on driving IT alignment. Manage large complex/multi-faceted projects and teams at the same time. The Senior Project Manager will also interface with other internal development teams, resource managers, infrastructure resources, and vendors to deliver solutions and services to our clients in large, multi-site engagements. Interacts closely with all team members to define the project parameters and to develop detailed project documentation outlining the project including project scope and business requirements, a project plan, budget, and schedule. On smaller projects, the Project Manager will also serve as a Business Analyst to ensure that the requirements are clear and agreed upon between the development team and the customer. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for executing the project according to the plan managing all issues that could impact the project using a pre-defined methodology reporting the status to all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project management programs which contain the details of a project
- Establish realistic goals and implement action plans for achieving set objectives
- Guide and direct project team members to ensure compliance with set standards, procedures, and guidelines
- Ensure availability of financial, material and human resources required to successfully complete a project
- Evaluate the progress of a project to detect limitations or faults in order to seek solutions to a more efficient process
- Monitor industry trends to identify changes in project strategies, tools, terminology and to adjust accordingly
- Develop internal communication strategies useful in ensuring communication between various departments of an organization
- Demonstrate proficiency in project management practices to build and manage team(s) that design and deliver highly scalable, extensible and reliable frameworks and services
- Participate in educational programs to update job knowledge and expand personal network
- Proffer solutions effective in meeting set targets and satisfying client requirements
- Conduct feasibility studies and oversee the selection of vendors
- Manage every aspect of a project, including its planning, communication, risk assessment, and resources
- Manage project change, assisting in any price change negotiations
- Review and approve all project documentation created by team members
- Review project invoices from accounting, resolving any associated billing issues
- Run status meetings communicating project information, reviewing the project plan, and reviewing issues
- Enforce effective change control - Ensure that scope creep, communications, and quality are carefully managed
- Proactively follow escalation and change control processes
- Obtain client sign off showing completion of project objectives and project closure
- Appreciate and advocate for information security and secure practices
- Support IT merger and acquisition integration efforts
- Liaise with the Security Manager to ensure proper implementation of security requirements
- Work directly with the IT infrastructure group to properly set-up and maintain system infrastructure
- Assist business teams with understanding the existing system capabilities, and capabilities being delivered in a project as and when possible
Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years of project management experience
- 5 years of experience in managing IT projects
- PMP certification
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, etc.
- Experience understanding complex technical issues
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Basic understanding of network management
- Basic understanding of IT security principles
- Understanding of Agile vs Waterfall project techniques
- Experience translating between business and technical teams
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to interact with both business/operations and IT teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications desired:
- Master’s Degree in computer science, management information systems, business administration or a related discipline
- Six Sigma certification
- DISAWorks system experience
