Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
What are we looking for?
The Building Enclosure Senior Project Manager has full responsibilities of the project including management of project teams, mentoring of staff, building client relationships/business development and pursuing project work, and review of client deliverables, including technical content. The primary focus of the BE Senior PM will help to grow building enclosure commissioning (BECx) work within the Fairfax office. This position will travel as business needs indicate, can be up to 25% of the time.
Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM may vary
What you'll do:
- Perform the full range of BECx work, including development of draft, update construction phase and final BECx plans, lead the development of the enclosure portion of the Owner's Project Requirements (OPR), review the basis of design (BOD) produced by the Architect of Record (AOR), perform enclosure design review, develop BECx specifications, perform review of submittals and shop drawings, perform BE construction observation site visits, participate in/lead periodic project management in-person or virtual meetings, review BE O&M documentation, perform 10-month warranty site visit, update and provide final BECx Report to client.
- Assist with directing field performance testing and water leakage testing of BE components, relating to the BECx projects
- Assist with construction administration services, including mock-up testing and shop drawing reviews, and conduct factory inspections and site visits.
- Develop business and clients in the local area and assist with national, larger pursuits outside of the local area. Includes attending association and/or trade group events, meetings, and conferences.
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings to further develop the BECx discipline within the Building Science Solutions Group.
- Provide support as the primary client contact for projects and develop client relationships.
- Prepare professionally written technical reports for design and construction phase services
- Develop the scope of services and prepare proposals.
- Assist in meeting profit center financial goals, assemble and manage project teams, and provide on-the-job training and mentoring to help grow the BECx group.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- 10+ years of industry experience, including building enclosure assessment, restoration and design
- Ability to perform forensic investigations, documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements.
- Professional registration or ability to obtain registration within one year
- Technical knowledge of building construction and building enclosure systems
- Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, roofs, etc.
- Ability to efficiently work on projects independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Field experience with diverse building types
- Property / façade condition assessments
- Ability to travel up to 25% outside local area, depending on local workload and project locations
- Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
