Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design is currently looking for a Senior Project Architect/Project manager to join our Science, Technology & Institution Architecture team in Rochester or Buffalo, NY!
Our Science, Technology and Industry Practice studio is looking for a licensed Project Architect with 10+ years of experience to join our highly collaborative multi-discipline team and contribute to successful projects for our clients. We do a variety of project types spanning pharmaceutical, biotech, cell and gene therapy industries, cGMP facilities, cleanrooms plus other industrial facilities. We strive to listen and understand our clients' needs so we can provide an effective design solution in support of their business. This approach has enabled us to develop a repeat client basis greater than 90%. Comprehensive skills to be successful in this role include programming and planning, concept design, ability to manage and lead the A/E design team, develop strong client relationships, ability to develop design solutions, knowledgeable in code analysis and research, material and product analysis and research, specification writing, and preparation of construction documents.
Responsibilities:o Collaborates with colleagues to promote an inter-disciplinary and collaborative design culture
o Programming and planning
o Concept Design
o Manage and Lead A/E Design teams
o Interact with Clients and build relationships
o Develop and present design solutions
o Conduct code analysis and research
o Conduct materials and product analysis and research
o Specification writing
o Prepare and manage construction documents
o Coordinates all communication between the client and Bergmann, ensuring timely resolution of client concerns and management of business issues including contracts and additional services
o Delivers clear and timely feedback/communication to the project team
o Monitors the performance of the project team and approach, to ensure that Bergmann’s quality standards and design goals are met
o Establishes, maintains and documents regular project-related meetings including client, internal team and consultants’ meetings
o Considers risk management by monitoring client issues and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize liability
o Highly organized and able to multitask.
o Follows through with post-contract administration (e.g. follow up calls to ensure satisfaction and source additional marketing leads, maintains the relationship with the client)
o Completely integrates the design and technical aspects of a project
o Initiates, documents and maintains project setup, including contract review, project process and filing procedures, work authorizations and assisting accounting in timely distribution of invoices
o Responsible for meeting or exceeding the financial goals established for the project and providing timely and appropriate information to Accounting to initiate invoicing
o Has a Professional licensure/certification.
o Has direct contact responsibility with clients and associated consultants, to ensure timely collections and management of delinquent accounts receivables
o Ensures the orderly and complete preparation, distribution and retention of all project written records
o Understands design philosophies, overall building design concepts, design software and delivery methods
o Understands and responds to the technical implications of design decisions
o Defines, monitors and maintains control of the scope of work and services for the project including schedule and work plan
o Prepares and negotiates client and consultant proposals, fees, schedules and contracts
o Represents Bergmann’s core values in spirit and in practice

o Promotes the office culture and studio mentorship within the office
Who We're Looking For: A strong architect with 10+ years of experience with a majority of that experience in the Science, Technology & Industry sector, NCARB Certification and licensure as an Architect is required.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:

• Strong communication skills
• Able to build relationships and communicate at every level of a project
• Able to work independently with minimal instruction
• Client-facing experience
• Strong Revit and AutoCAD skills required
• Prior experience with SketchUp, Google Earth, Form-It Pro, Enscape, BlueBeam, SpecBuilder Cloud, and CTM BIM Suite will be helpful, but is not required.
