Senior Project Engineer- Water/Wastewater
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION:
Minimum to frequent travel between sites is required.
- Finalizes, manages and provides oversight and approval of project scoping, budgeting and scheduling, completion of project design, and client communication.
- Applies general civil engineering design techniques, principles and oversight on a variety of both public and private water and wastewater projects.
- Prepares and presents reports and updates, engineering computations, hydraulic modeling, development review of plans as well as technical specifications, contract documents and estimates. Including coordination with regulatory and funding agencies, sub-consultants and other disciplines on multi-discipline project teams.
- Manages construction phase services including bidding coordination, contract document approval, construction administration services, coordinates with contractor, and performs construction observation.
- Directs production work of engineering technicians, graduate engineers, sub-consultants and projects designated by direct supervisors.
- Develops and maintains community relationships and procures projects with associated organizations and partners (including both private and public sectors).
- Identification of new projects, marketing, scoping and preparing statements of qualifications (SOQs)
- Prepares, submits and presents contract documents, RFQs, estimates and other project-related documents.
- Uses AutoCAD – and Civil 3D for use in preparing engineering and design drawings and supervising projects/work.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive experience with water, wastewater plant design, storage facilities, pump/ lift stations, sewage collection systems, distribution systems, street/road, drainage as well as related community projects (local preferred), legislation and quality standards.
- 4+ years' experience in a civil engineering firm or related agency required, 8+ years preferred.
- Experience as a Project Manager, or comparable position, in a related engineering field; 2+ years' experience as Project Manager preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of design and drafting concepts, practices and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of design interpretation and drafting standard compliance.
- Advanced computer and internet skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Proficient with recent versions of software applications used by company: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess good problem-solving skills be able to respectfully and effectively manage a team environment.
- Exhibit self-initiative and independence on a day-to-day basis.
- Excellent proofing and editing skills.
- Ability to think and visualize in three dimensions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members and clients.
- Exhibit self-initiative and independence on day to day basis.
EDUCATION:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university, required; Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university in appropriate engineering field, preferred.
- Active Engineer in Training (EIT).
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
- Valid Texas Class C driver's license with a satisfactory driving record for the past three (3) years.
- Supervision of direction of work of Graduate Engineers, EITs and CAD Technicians; this position does not require supervision of personnel-related issues at this time.
Minimum to frequent travel between sites is required.
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment.
- Capability of working in an outdoor environment with temperatures ranging from 32 degrees to 100+ degrees to observe work progress on construction projects.
- Capability to work partially in the field where may occasionally be exposed to loud noise levels, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace.
- May be required to walk on traverse terrain typical of a construction site.
- Climb steep steps and/or ladders (50 ft in height), and other temporary or construction access points.
- Drive 50 miles or more per day to job sites or client offices.
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups or over the telephone.
- Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
- Capabilities to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.
- Capability of occasionally lifting, carrying and/or moving an object weighing up to 75 lbs.
