This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills to support both internal and customer-facing activities. Reporting to an Engineering manager, you will have a 9/80 work schedule with a hybrid work option (3 days/week in the office) in Torrance, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex flight actuation control hardware.
- Oversee system/component performance validation and integration, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Coordinate the work of engineers and technicians, managing specific assignments to meet project goals.
- Serve as the focal point for customer communications, providing technical support and updates.
- Work closely with Program Management to track progress, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Ensure project success by closely monitoring and reporting on team progress toward schedule and cost targets.
- Document and apply Lessons Learned from previous projects to new initiatives.
- Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, both internal and external.
- Prepare and deliver presentations for design reviews and technical interface meetings with customers.
- Support the qualification of new products through a comprehensive development test program.
- Produce accurate and concise documentation of designs, analyses, and test results in reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 7+ years of professional design and development engineering experience, with at least 3 years in the Aerospace industry.
- Proven experience in leading technical teams and managing cost, schedule, and scope for technical projects.
- Strong project management skills, with experience using MS Project for planning, scheduling, and resource loading.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Engineering (master's or higher).
- Experience in the design, analysis, and development of complex electrohydraulic or electromechanical components.
- Experience in designing, analyzing, and developing complex systems.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) fundamentals.
Skills and Certifications:
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Expertise in managing project cost, schedule, and scope.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project for project planning and scheduling.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate
- Project Engineering experience in the aerospace industry in a large company with structured development process
- 8 or more years of experience
- Experience developing electromechanical or electrohydraulic components; ideally experience developing flight actuation systems
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems
- Experience with Microsoft Project.
