Job Summary: The Project Engineer position will assist and support Project Managers and Superintendents in coordinating and managing electrical construction projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Compensation: $60,000.00-90,000.00/YR
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager with the pre-project planning process
- Assist with tasks required to develop and maintain budgets. This includes reviewing field timesheets, material invoices, and monitoring progress.
- Assist in the preparation and management of purchase orders, purchase order modifications, subcontracts, subcontract modifications, submittals and requests for information (RFI’s).
- Assist in the preparation and management of change orders in Accubid Change Order Pro. (We understand that this may require training in both estimating and with the Accubid Change Order Pro estimating system).
- Help update construction documents, and distribution of the same to vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the life cycle of a project via Bluebeam, procore, or other document management platforms.
- Ability to review and comprehend project plans, specifications, and contract requirements, while ensuring the project team has the most recent versions and are complying to the requirements throughout the course of the project.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
- Ensure adherence to all project documents, codes, and industry standards through regular quality control site walks.
- Fully understand implement, and maintain the companies safety program, while promoting a safety culture within the office and on jobsites.
- Travel may be required to conduct site visits to assist in monitoring progress and maintaining quality control, but the position is based in our San Diego office.
- Foster and maintain relationships with General Contractors, engineers, designers, subcontractors, and other external project team members.
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendents with material procurement and coordination.
Qualifications:
- Construction Management, electrical, or mechanical, degree preferred but not required or equivalent field experience a plus.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in construction preferred.
- Understanding of electrical systems, codes, and industry standards a plus.
- Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Ability to react to different situations with an open mind and use multiple resources to solve complex problems.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed (travel within Southern California).
