Job Details
In partnership with the Technical Leader, Project Manager and Project Designer, the Senior Project Architect has responsibility for the project’s financial performance and team communication. Responsible for the issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of Johnston documents, coordination of disciplines and consultants, and for the supervision of all staff producing documents. Primary responsibility for the implementation of Construction Phase Services in collaboration with the Project Manager. Responsible for securing QA/QC reviews and the implementation of comments. Must be a licensed Architect and is responsible for signing/sealing drawings. Needs to participate in and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and mentoring. This position reports to the Director of Architecture.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Monitors the design process to ensure the overall design intent of the project is properly executed and incorporated into the detailed documentation.
Maintains technical resolution and coordination of projects.
Maintains effective communication with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation.
Checks completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy.
Creates strategy for producing the documents in coordination with the Project Manager or Senior Architect including defining how data will be organized and which elements will be incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM).
Works with Senior Architect to set up project team software parameters and manages standards.
Communicates with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements.
Works with Senior Project Architect to ensure that construction documentation conforms to quality assurance and best practice standards.
Supervises preparation of technical drawings.
Utilizes knowledge of building codes and can research and apply/incorporate them into technical documents.
Mentors and directs the work of less experienced team members.
Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
Participates in business development meetings with team leaders to target specified project, client, or market opportunities.
Coordinates and tracks shared electronic documentation and files with project team, clients, and consultants.
Meets with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances.
Attends on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings. Prepares and coordinates the review of contractor’s schedules, submission of shop drawings and samples.
Works with Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, and evaluating and selecting project-related materials.
Participates in review of project costs, budgets, and schedule.
Prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and build models for client.

EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
Licensed Architect with current registration.
5+ years of architectural design experience on all phases of projects.
Experience with healthcare required.
Experience with government, commercial, and/or education a plus.
5+ years of experience working on architecturally significant buildings.
Strong knowledge of architectural buildings systems, design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer products.
Knowledge of building codes and standards.
Proficiency with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Revit required.
Experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketchup.
Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.
Proficiency in Newforma preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
