About the Job
CSET is looking for a motivated, creative, and outgoing individual to work in our Employment Connection Visalia office to assist Tulare County residents with career guidance. Applicants must be able to work independently, have knowledge of local labor market and employer expectations, and have the ability to work with customers who have varying personalities and diversity.
Qualified candidates must be motivated, knowledgeable, and willing to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds. The eligible individual will assist with confirming customer eligibility requirements through the examination of the applicant's personal and financial documentation. Create client files with the required documentation as needed for Adult Training programs. Conduct presentations, job readiness workshops, case management, and training/job placement activities. Have the ability to assist in motivating individuals to become self-reliant. Excellent and strong communication and customer service skills are required along with the ability to work independently while multi-tasking with particular attention to detail. Have strong organizational skills, knowledge, and experience in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to input data and assist in preparing reports. Must have excellent customer service practices. B.A. or B.S. preferred but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities and personal characteristics for vocational planning.
- Facilitates orientations and workshops.
- Remains updated on occupational and local labor market information, program requirements, and regulations affecting participants.
- Refer participants to other CSET program resources as applicable.
- Compiles and studies occupational, educational, and economic information to aid in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives.
- Keeps participant file updated by manually entering data on Program forms and in electronic case files including case notes regarding participant job placement and training.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports to the Site Coordinator and does not supervise staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Possession of Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training' or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum one-year experience providing services to low-income persons or justice involved individuals. Minimum of one-year experience providing vocational counseling, employment assistance and case management preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to calculate figures for accounting purposes.
- Ability to apply basic bookkeeping and record keeping principles.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
California Driver's License and proof of auto insurance.
