Microsoft Azure Readiness Engineering is the team behind the cloud. Readiness Engineering is responsible for delivering Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. The Readiness Engineering Deployment team is responsible for ensuring that sellable capacity is available for Microsoft customers. This includes ensuring that the required infrastructure is deployed on-time to meet customer demand, continuously improving the end-to-end performance, and designing the delivery system to meet the scale, speed, and predictability required by the business.
This role requires an innovative individual who can provide thought leadership in the development of next generation deployment systems and processes. The successful candidate will be able to systematically analyze and mine big data systems to identify trends and patterns. They should be able to assess highly complex integrated systems and identify service improvement opportunities based on data. They should be able to prioritize projects based on the overall impact to the business and lead the development of those solutions. Finally, they must be able to model business scenarios and predict the future impact to the deployment system resulting from those solutions. The ideal candidate would have a strong Techincal Program Management background in networking, servers, application development, and/or security as well as, demonstrated expertise in communication and collaboration at the senior leadership level.
**Responsibilities**
+ Lead virtual teams to deliver infrastructure predictably based on US Government customer need.
+ Create methods and processes to collect critical data about deployments, progress, and dependencies.
+ Own accountability within the CPDE Readiness Engineering.
+ Partner with engineering teams in hitting 95% success rate in what is considered clear-to-dock criteria (i.e. critical deployment prerequisites prior to dock).
+ Partner with the AZURE CAPACITY DEPLOYMENT software engineering teams to identify automation opportunities that will increase the capability to deliver against critical milestones for US Government deployments.
+ Partner upstream with the Capacity Planning and Deployment.
+ Partner with Planning teams to understand the demand and challenges of deployments to anticipate and solve.
+ Develop an understanding of hardware types being deployed and work with the supply chain organization to resolve issues when we have defective or partial shipments impacting deployments.
+ Partner with process and reporting teams to develop actionable dashboards that will help drive daily and weekly triage of blockers in the system as well as predictive indicators for demand to be on track.
+ Own metrics and analytics that show the performance of the deployments against goals, as well as trending.
+ Be proactive in identifying continuous improvement areas in the deployment process and acts as a leader to go drive resulting initiatives.
+ Identify program process improvements to help delivery better predictability across all cloud offerings.
+ Ensure that automation and software releases are tested, planned and implemented successfully from an operations perspective (i.e. system improvements cannot impact deployments in flight).
+ Design automated solutions to identify and mitigate deployment risks.
+ Perform detailed data analysis and data mining against large distributed data sets using T-SQL, MQuery, DAX, and R.
+ Develop prototypes to enable the creation of next generation systems and automation.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ 4+ years of program management experience
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ BS in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience (Program Management, Project Management, Operations, technical/engineering roles).
+ 1+ year strong data analysis skills leveraging T-SQL, MQuery, DAX and/or R.
+ 1+ year demonstrated scripting and/or programming skills in C#, R, Python, or PowerShell.
+ 3+ years of experience leading process engineering and/or implementing automation systems.
+ Proven experience in collaborating across technical engineering teams and senior leadership.
+ Exceptional written communication and presentation skills.
+ Ability to quickly pick up existing concepts and employ new techniques.
+ Strong problem-solving skills.
+ Six Sigma certification.
