About the Job
The Boston Biotechnology Conferences, a series of exclusive networking forums for leaders in the biopharma space, is looking for a Senior Program Manager to design and execute several conferences per year.
The ideal candidate is creative and hardworking, with extremely stronginterpersonal,writing, analytic and research skills. The program manager should be extremely familiar with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, with special knowledge of financing, deal-making and R&D trends. The candidate should be well versed, and/or able to rapidly learn about the latest drug development trends in a number of therapeutic areas such as oncology, neuroscience, infectious diseases and rare disorders.
The position primarily involves developing sophisticated and timely agendas and populating the agendas with an excellent mix of panelists.The program manager will work on multiple conferences simultaneously and mentor team members, so strong project management skills while maintaining a high attention to detail on a tight deadline is a necessity.
The program manager interacts very closely with attendees in a number of ways. These include soliciting feedback for topics to be covered at the next conference, reaching out to past attendees, or to new people, with invitations to participate on a panel, or interacting via email and phone during panel preparation conference calls prior to each conference. Given that our participants are mostly C-level executives, our program manager shouldhave strong relationship development skills andfeel comfortable interacting with people in the C-suite.
In addition to directly managing multiple conferences, the senior program manager will also mentor and support additional team members who will develop their own meetings.
The position is full-time and based out of our Boston office, and reports to the portfolio director. The ideal candidate is a compelling and clear writer, has a science degree, has 3 – 5 years’ experience as a conference producer and/or journalist in the life sciences space, and is eager to work in a setting where everybody pitches in and a small team gets a lot done. Familiarity with SalesForce is a big plus.
