About the Role:
The Senior Product Strategy Manager will be responsible for bringing new products to market and determining where we should spend our time. Should we invest in new categories? Should we expand existing categories? How do we capture the category's full potential across different revenue channels? How should we launch the category or product? These are all questions the Senior Product Strategy Manager will answer regularly, and the answers to these questions will fundamentally steer the business.
A successful Senior Product Strategy Manager will be highly creative, analytical, and ROI-driven in identifying potentially attractive opportunities for both new and existing product offerings. Specifically, they will build out the strategy for existing product categories, while continuously evaluating new opportunities, and overseeing the execution of both. A successful Senior Product Strategy Manager will also be an exceptional teammate, leveraging the expertise of our Product Development, Consumer Insights, Data & Analytics, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure we're making the best product decisions for the business. Finally, a successful Senior Product Strategy Manager will understand how to balance data with intuition, and will be energized by making important decisions. This role will have the opportunity to manage direct reports.
This role will report to the Associate Director of Portfolio Strategy.
This is a full-time, hybrid role with company benefits based out of Squatch HQ in Marina del Rey, CA.
The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $120,000 to $150,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.
What You'll Do:
- Own the overall performance of categories within the Dr. Squatch portfolio, developing a deep understanding of our brand, our customer, the business strategy behind each revenue channel and the problems we're trying to solve through natural personal care products
- Analyze product performance and customer behavior to identify gaps in our existing portfolio and/or marketing efforts, and create strategic plans to address those gaps
- Partner with cross-functional teams and revenue channel leads to create and track revenue goals by product category, identify opportunities to improve the profitability and reliability of our products, ensure optimal merchandising and claims strategy, and support retail merchandising and selling initiatives
- For existing product categories, build out a backlog of potential initiatives and then collaborate with the broader team to prioritize, execute and analyze the success of those initiatives
- Identify new product categories with the highest potential, and partner across the organization to ensure successful research, development, launch and customer adoption
- As part of the development of new categories, translate data from multiple sources (e.g. consumer insights, market research, competitive landscape) into a winning value proposition and set of key product features, own pricing and product margin, work cross-functionally to establish and understand revenue goals, demand planning and merchandising for the category, and manage the product and artwork design.
About You:
- Bachelor's degrees in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred
- 5+ years of professional work experience with 3+ years in product strategy, brand management, product innovation, or product-focused role at a fast-growing or well-established consumer product company, preferably with an emphasis in personal care
- Scrappy problem-solver with a strong sense of urgency
