Brief Job Overview
Based in Rockville, Maryland, or Minneapolis, Minnesota office of USP, this (Senior) Product Manager position, Microbiology is a critical role for the realization of USP’s Microbiology Strategy
You will have primary responsibility for the management of existing USP Microbiology Unit product portfolio and have the opportunity to contribute to improving Global Quality and Supply of pharmaceutical drugs to patients globally, in collaboration with drugs manufacturers, compounding pharmacies, products and services suppliers as well as United States and other countries Health Regulatory Agencies
You will be responsible for lifecycle management of USP Microbiology product portfolio, ensuring that they are matching the needs and solving microbial contamination challenges faced by drug manufacturers and compounding pharmacies
You will oversee and execute multiple marketing activities and processes including pricing, go-to-market strategy development, promotion plans and launch activities, trainings development, working closely with colleagues from Development, Business, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, Communication, Digital teams and many others
You will obtain a deep understanding of customer needs as well as complex market and competitive dynamics and make recommendations to scientific and business leadership to increase growth of the business
You will prepare business cases and tactical plans globally and will report performance regularly to senior leadership
You will have primary responsibility for developing global strategic and tactical marketing plans for your portfolio of USP microbiology products and standards
Finally, you will be a key member of the Biologics Industry Solutions team and will act as a change agent within the organization, fostering new ways of executing strategy, enhancing USP Microbiology visibility on the market, growing sales, and ultimately creating value for pharmaceutical community
This position is an individual contributor position
Ability to travel up to 20% travel, both domestic and international, will be required
This role is hybrid and requires employees to work 60% of their time at the Rockville, MD headquarters OR the Saint Paul, MN location

The Senior Product Manager, Microbiology has the following responsibilities: + Enhance visibility of USP as the leading global organization supporting pharmaceutical industry and compounding pharmacies in establishing standards for implementation of microbial contamination control strategies
Drive USP Microbiology solutions market adoption through development of market awareness activities based on a deep understanding of customer and market needs, and challenges
+ Lead the development and execution of USP Microbiology Unit marketing programs for existing and new microbiology product portfolio in close collaboration with Global and Regional teams at USP
+ Collaborate with field sales, scientific, and marketing partners to assess market, competition, and customer trends and data
+ Define target markets and customer profiles and craft tactics aimed at generating sales leads and acquiring new customers
+ Work in close collaboration with the new products pipeline team to identify and prioritize opportunities for portfolio expansions and value creation through the development and commercialization of new products, standards and solutions
+ Actively support new product launches, driving early adoption and revenues growth of our product portfolio
+ Collaborate with USP scientific and marketing staff, and external agencies as needed, to develop product messaging, translating them into marketing collateral, promotion and commercialization plans
+ Produce independently and with other USP and agency partners marketing materials (content) described in the marketing plan including, but not limited to: collateral, sales tools, flyers, trainings, application notes, whitepapers, videos, case studies, customer testimonials, emails, blogs, trade journal articles and web content to drive lead generation and sales
+ Drive lead generation and conversion by helping customers find the information they need to make an informed buying decision via innovative content creation and distribution tactics
+ Coordinate with other USP departments and functions to align programs, conserve resources, as well as support the overall USP marketing message and strategy
+ Ensure marketing budget is well planned and that return on investment is regularly evaluated
Who is USP Looking For?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience: + Bachelor’s in microbiology-related field
+ 8 - 10 years of product management, marketing, strategic marketing in life sciences industry for Senior Product Manager
+ Knowledge of technical and scientific details of microbiological quality control and biosafety testings in pharmaceutical industry; provide consultation on current and future trends in the industry in front of customers and internal stakeholders; able to contribute to thought leadership activities
+ Ability to work with and engage across management team and various functions within the organization
Ability to lead through influence
+ Ability to think critically and analytically about business problems and challenges
+ Ability to see current and future business within a broader context and quickly synthesize implications and opportunities to both internal and external audiences
+ Demonstrated knowledge of marketing tactics and best practices
Additional Desired Preferences
+ Master’s degree or higher in microbiology-related field and/or business, MBA preferred
+ Significant (8 years+) Experience in selling, marketing products and services to QC Microbiology laboratories in pharma/ biopharma industry
+ Track record of authoring articles and presenting in conferences on QC microbiology topics in pharma/ biopharma industry
+ Comfortable working in a fast paced, energetic environment
+ Experience working with and manipulating large amounts of financial/other data in Excel
+ Ability to communicate both orally and written to internal and external audiences, including to the leadership team, to foster collaboration, drive alignment, and achieve results
+ Ability to think creatively, approach work with an entrepreneurial mindset, and take the initiative despite minimal day-to-day oversight; ownership mindset to solve problems and drive the business

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $121,000.00 – $153,500.00 annually
Target Annual Bonus: 13% Varies based on level of role Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons
