Senior Product Manager, HW Platform

  

This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:

   

Job Family Definition:

Designs, plans, develops and manages a product or portfolio of products throughout the solution portfolio lifecycle: from new product definition or enhancements to existing products; planning, design, forecasting, and production; to end of life.

Management Level Definition:

Applies expert subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving most complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages activities of exempt individual contributors (typically Expert/Master) and/or MG1s. Has accountability for a large multi-department area(s) or location(s) with significant impact on business unit results and organizational strategy. Acts as a key advisor to senior management on the development of overall policies and long-term goals of the organization. Plans, manages, and monitors high-end operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members' primary focus is on either high-end tactical or broad strategic issues or a combination of both. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Position typically reports to Director or above. 

Additional Guidance/Criteria: Manages and controls activities within a sub-region or Region;

Responsibilities:

• Leads and drives the approach for the end to end strategy and operational product roadmap for one or more product portfolios.
• Guides the portfolio team(s) in defining value proposition, customer segmentation, and business case to bring innovative and disruptive products to the market for one or more product portfolios.  (i.e. Product configuration mix, Revenue/margins, financials, market share).
• For one or more portfolios, leads and drives the synthesis of market requirements (MRD) into marketing/customer details through having intimate customer knowledge and business, financial and industry market acumen.
• Aligns multiple product portfolios lifecycles to business segment goals across all phases of the product portfolio lifecycle and business unit lifecycle (e.g. planning, development, launch, management, exit).

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering or related field of study. MBA or advanced degree in computer science or engineering preferred.
• 8+ years of work experience in related field.
• Proven ability to define and execute a business strategy that drives operational excellence & profit.
• Have an in-depth understanding of technologies that are impacting hardware designs for future storage systems.
• Manage forecast. supplier relationships, regulations and lifecycle for hardware platform. 
• Strong technology foundation and business acumen and understand the technology strategy in the market.
• Demonstrated experience leading people and teams on complex projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Extensive storage industry experience.
• Exceptional business acumen and knowledge of root cause analysis and problem detection.
• Technical understanding and knowledge of the relevant industry and ability to provide product specific technical training to the team.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $128,000.00 - $295,000.00
