Job Description
Artificial Intelligence is a foundational pillar in Rhombus' product strategy. We've built best-in-class AI capabilities into our Guardian AI products to equip our customers with digital resilience tools they need to solve their complex problems.
We are seeking a distinguished Senior Product Engineer with outstanding technical execution and leadership in the AI/ML area and beyond to drive our product initiatives with a clear technology roadmap, team leadership, and personal and team execution skills to deliver, deploy, and scale innovations. You'll partner closely with the Executive Team, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Design Team to provide technical guidance to the cross-functional teams throughout the product development life cycle, from strategic thinking and architecture design to implementation, deployment, and execution. We will hold you accountable for delivery goals!
Our team's main focus is frontend and backend development, cloud technologies, and engineering of large distributed systems with cost constraints on various clients and with network performance targets. Additional areas of work include designing authentication flows with simple and intuitive UX, flexible and granular policy management as well as management consoles to help admins manage the service efficiently.
Core Responsibilities:
- Work with the leadership team to build awareness and alignment to accelerate the rollout and adoption of AI technologies.
- Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across our portfolio, and at all levels of our organization.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cross-functional teams and promote a culture of engineering excellence.
- Collaborate with fellow technical leaders to ensure the successful and timely delivery of AI/ML models.
- Help identify and mitigate risks in our plans and executions, especially at the intersection of business and engineering.
- Communicate with engineering, data, and customer success teams, integrating their contributions into user-facing products. You'll be working closely with various teams to comprehend business requirements and translate them into comprehensive technical design documents.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve bugs to maintain product quality and performance.
What we're looking for:
- Commitment to staying up-to-date with the industry/ field and applying academic advances to solve complex business problems, and bringing them in house, and into production.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate insights into practical solutions that address real-world challenges.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior researchers or team members.
- Prior experience working in the national security/defense industry is desired.
- You can be scrappy, and can make informed decisions around prioritization, understanding the trade-offs between speed, cost, and quality.
- You are excited about growing a technical team that is comprised of a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise, and are excited about joining us on a journey.
What we require:
- At minimum 7 years' experience as a software engineer with significant programming experience in Go and Python.
- Masters in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, highly desired.
- Strong experience in Object Oriented Programming design concepts
- At least 3 years' experience in developing solutions in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes and their technologies (Lambda functions, SNS/SQS etc.)
- In-depth knowledge and proven track record in cloud software development, AI/ML technology, including deep learning, time series modeling, natural language processing, and unsupervised learning.
- In-depth knowledge and proven track record in Generative AI technology and Large Language Models (LLM).
- Strong knowledge of databases SQL, NoSQL, Time series, GraphDB etc.
- Experience building RESTful API services
- Experience with Azure strongly desired but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience in developing large-scale, complex models and deploying them in production systems, as well as large-scale data processing and parallel computing – GPU, multi-GPU and distributed training.
- Willing to work onsite in our Palo Alto, CA HQ with 10-15% travel
