Job DescriptionThe Senior Producer, Digital Video will be part of the Digital Innovation Team, writing, editing, and producing content for NBCU Local. We're seeking someone to create breaking news content, consumer content, mini-docs, explainers, lifestyle pieces, and take the lead creating digital series that can be used across multiple platforms. In addition, this person will collaborate with local NBC and Telemundo stations on various projects in markets across the country.
The Senior Producer must be an expert collaborator, with the strong leadership and project management skills required to take ownership of demanding productions, projects and shows. We are looking for someone who can do everything with sound journalism, from quickly putting together a TikTok explainer on a breaking news story to preparing a production for a long-form World Cup series. The perfect candidate will love news but will be passionate about finding unique ways to tell stories across every platform, love working with others, and prioritize multiple projects at once.
Some of things you'll do in this role:
- Shoot, write, pitch, produce and edit original videos for digital platforms
- Appear on camera for select content
- Pitch concepts for new series for all platforms (Web, OTT, social) and develop plans for publication
- Oversee production of multiple projects at the same time and effectively collaborate and communicate with a team of producers and editors
- Build and maintain production documents such as shoot schedules, call sheets, and shot lists, gear lists, timelines, releases
- Leverage resources available from our national editorial team, owned stations or other sources to research, pitch, write and edit video segments designed for all platforms, including social, linear, streaming, and digital
- Gather, sort, and find stories in data and present data visually in videos
- Digest lots of information and present it in a simple video
- Develop graphic elements and treatments for your videos to engage mobile users.
- Develop best practices and expertise around creating, publishing and distributing videos specific to various digital platforms, and train digital and broadcast producers in those best practices at NBC’s owned stations.
- Write headlines and text for your videos to maximize engagement.
Basic Requirements:
- Must have at least 4 years of experience producing videos for multiple digital platforms
- Must have a bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, or related field or equivalent experience
- Ability to oversee multiple productions concurrently on various timelines
- Experience editing videos on tight deadlines
- Experience creating content in Adobe Premiere, After-Effects and Photoshop and working with Adobe Essential Graphics (.mogrt)
- Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for digital attention
- Ability to shoot with DSLR/cinema cameras, use lightning and audio equipment
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation for YouTube
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadlines, including breaking news
- Must be willing to work all shifts as required by news and events (including nights and weekends).

- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
