About the Job
DescriptionSupports the development, implementation, review, audit, promotion, and revisions to the Process Safety & Risk Management Program.Supports, provides guidance and assists in the development and ongoing maintenance of PSM and Risk Management program elements.Participates in and/or facilitates PSM related incident investigations utilizing Cause Map methodology and incorporating human factors analysis.Assists in development and implementation of corporate PSM policies, standards, and guidelines.Facilitates and/or oversees process hazard analyses (PHAs) and revalidations.
This also includes California specific requirements for safeguard protection analyses (SPAs) and Hierarchy of Hazard Controls analyses (HCAs).Participates in and helps steward damage mechanism reviews (DMRs).Participates in and conducts audits to assure compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations (both state and Federal requirements).Reviews ongoing program elements to ensure all changes involving MOC, Mechanical Integrity, PHA's training and quality assurance are complete and well documented.
Ensures the effects of changes made to the refinery on the RMP Hazard Assessment are evaluated.Participates in site risk evaluations (RMCs, AORs) to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.Utilize risk assessments to help develop action item prioritization plans and gap closure schedules.Stewards action item completion and gap closure plans associated with PHAs, incident investigations, audits, MOCs and other PSM activities and assists with their completion.This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.The [salary range] [rate] for this position is $126,880 to $174,460 and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications and experience.QualificationsBachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.Five years of engineering experience in a refinery/petrochemical environment required.Process Engineering and Process Safety experience in a refinery or petrochemical environment preferred.Knowledge of Federal PSM Regulations (OSHA & EPA RMP) is preferred.Knowledge of California specific PSM Regulations (CalOSHA & CalARP) is preferred.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, Equipment, isometric, etc.) preferred.Refinery unit process understanding preferred.Working knowledge of SAP preferred.Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Wilmington Refinery, required.All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
