Senior Process Engineer - PM Group

The Senior Process Engineer position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing  Philadelphia area team located out of Conshohocken, PA.  Together we will all be sharing knowledge, learning, growing, and continuing to be an integral part of supporting PM Group’s ongoing expansion in the US.  Our office is executing cutting-edge projects for Cell & Gene Therapy, Biologics, and Pharma facilities – from feasibility through to qualification – for both local and international clients.  With our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe.

This is a senior level career position and we are looking for an Engineer who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position.  This individual needs to have an understanding of the technical aspects of process design engineering. The ability to successfully handle multiple real-time complex project and operational tasks as well as maintain a strong work ethic and drive to deliver for clients as a collaborative colleague are necessary for this role. The Senior Process Engineer is mentored by more senior level engineering team members and, conversely, will be involved with the mentoring and development of less experienced process engineering team members.  Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction.

• Ability to lead designs from feasibility and concept stage, including presentation of process options to our clients and optimization of the selected design.
• Carry out detailed engineering: preparation of process / clean utility calculations, drawings, reports, etc., directly and through supervision of other engineers.
• Strong understanding of GMP facility requirements: GMP material and personnel flows, clean room design requirements, compendial water requirements, impacts of open versus closed processing, etc.
• Experience making decisions and resolving process design problems typical to biopharmaceutical projects: selecting optimum Water for Injection generation & distribution philosophies, determining design case for flexible GMP single use facilities, developing process and clean utility expansion strategies for facility growth, etc.
• Liaise and coordinate with PM Groups different disciplines and offices as well as external consultants.
• Mass Balance, PFD and P&ID development for typical biopharmaceutical process unit operations (bioreactors, chromatography, fill finish, etc.).
• Clean utility system design – generation and distribution of purified water, WFI, clean steam and process gases.
• Process equipment design and specification for both stainless steel and single use equipment.
• Present PM Group’s process engineering capability to potential clients in support of proposals.
• Travel as required for design workshops, HAZOPs, GMP review, etc.
• Other special projects as assigned 

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
• 7+ Years of process engineering experience in a design firm setting (preferably in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Cell & Gene Therapy sectors)  
• Experience working with AutoCAD and Revit
• Understanding of and ability to develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is strongly preferred
• Self-starter with confidence in coordinating the efforts of others
• Good communication skills (ability to lead Technical reviews with Clients and Suppliers)
• Knowledge of GMP Manufacturing environments is preferred
• The ability to travel as needed for client and project development
