Senior Private Equity Fund Accountant – Boston, MA
We are seeking candidates for an experienced Senior Private Equity Fund Accountant to oversee accounting, reconciliations, and cash flow management for a large portfolio of private placements and private equity investments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing the accounting and financial reporting for private equity funds. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic financial decisions within the firm. Qualified candidates who prefer to work 100% REMOTELY will be considered. All remote candidates must be in EST.
This is a 6+ month assignment that will pay $75 - $80/hour (depending on experience) within a 40-hour work week.

We are seeking candidates for an experienced Senior Private Equity Fund Accountant to oversee accounting, reconciliations, and cash flow management for a large portfolio of private placements and private equity investments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing the accounting and financial reporting for private equity funds. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic financial decisions within the firm. This is a 6+ month assignment that will pay $75 - $80/hour (depending on experience) within a 40-hour work week.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of fund accounting, including capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, and carried interest allocations.
- Prepare and review financial statements, partner capital statements, and quarterly/annual investor reports in compliance with US GAAP or IFRS.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and third-party valuation specialists to ensure accurate reporting of investment valuations.
- Coordinate year-end audits with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulations (e.g., SEC, AIFMD) and prepare filings as required.
- Work with the investor relations team to address investor queries, provide financial data, and support due diligence requests.
- Oversee cash flow projections and manage liquidity for fund operations.
- Liaise with external tax advisors to ensure proper tax reporting, including K-1s and other tax documents for investors.
- Identify and implement best practices for fund accounting processes, including automation and system enhancements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior fund accountants and support staff, fostering professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 10+ years in private equity fund accounting, with in-depth knowledge of fund structures, waterfall calculations, and limited partnership agreements.
- CPA or CFA certification preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Investran, eFront, or similar platforms) and strong Excel skills.
- Extensive understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, private equity regulations, and industry best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and complex calculations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
