Emerson’s Analytical Instruments organization, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of equipment for chemical analysis in industrial liquid and combustion process, has a career opportunity as a Senior Principal Scientist based at our Shakopee, MN location.
This technical position will lead the sensor systems technology group. This group designs and developments technologies key to Emerson’s sensor portfolio and works closely with the engineering team to bring new technology to market.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Develop new sensors and technology as well as support legacy
- Develop technology roadmap for Analytical Instruments team and drive technology investigation work
- Support development teams to maximize efficiency and minimize development time and cost.
- Provide support for product maintenance of sensor products in production.
- Lead laboratory activities related to research and development efforts.
- Follows company safety policies and ensures safety practices with chemicals and laboratory activities
- Support the development of technologies critical to sensor development.
- Report periodic project progress to the new product development team and to Product Managers for maintenance of schedules.

- M.S.Ch., M.S.Ch.E.,. or related technical degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ten (10) years of applicable experience.
- PhD in chemistry or related field.
- Ability to complete research activities, formulate hypotheses, plan experimentation efforts and communicate results.
- Ability to support the Manufacturing, Marketing and Quality departments as required to accomplish Company goals.

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $140,000-170,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role
