Our team provides creative, cost effective and practical solutions to stakeholders in the power generation, transmission/distribution systems and hyper scaler loads. The RI Engineer must demonstrate vision and drive and be passionate about contributing to the growth and evolution of the Power Systems Advisory business in North America. This role is based at our DNV office in Dallas (TX), Houston (TX), Medford (MA), New York (NY), Oakland (CA), Portland (OR), San Diego (CA), Seattle (WA) or Austin (TX) presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within US.What You’ll DoPerform steady state, dynamic, short-circuit and/or PSCAD model development for renewable and conventional generation resources including Solar, Storage, Wind and Gas turbines Apply experience to independently perform, lead others, and advance collective capabilities in studies for power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, Electromagnetic Transients (EMT), harmonics, techno-economics, and related areas for transmission, distribution, load, and generator applicationsLead and advance script development and troubleshooting throughout the study process, ensuring high quality and timely deliverables, minimizing rework and review needs. Identify and implement modifications to more effectively address workloadsCollaborate with, lead, and advance capabilities of team members in understanding study requirements, including technical and commercial items, such as billable hours, to ensure high quality and timely deliverables throughout the study processServe as a Subject Matter Expert for area(s) related to grid reliability and/or energy marketsConduct and lead technical studies for generator interconnection including system impact, feasibility, and deliverability per ISOs/RTOs requirements and methodologyGuide and instruct team members using a strong technical understanding of generation (including IBR), transmission, interconnection, customer and load, and modeling principlesActively attend (in person/remote) industry stakeholder meetings and stay up to date with assigned market changes in terms of developments and policy changesContribute to the team’s research and innovation activities in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team’s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvementsCultivate new customer relationships, and assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP) and provide Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for new tenders/bids/opportunitiesAbout Energy SystemsWe help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future.
