OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
The Senior Power Generation Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of power generation systems. This role includes overseeing the maintenance, performance, and reliability of power plants, including traditional and renewable energy sources. The Senior Power Generation Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the operations meet safety, regulatory, and environmental standards while optimizing for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Design and Optimization:
Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of power generation systems (both conventional and renewable energy sources).
Perform detailed feasibility studies, technical assessments, and economic analyses to optimize power plant designs.
Develop and implement strategies for improving power plant performance and reliability.
Project Management:
Oversee power generation projects from conception to completion, including budget management, resource allocation, and timeline tracking.
Coordinate with stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technical teams.
Operation and Maintenance:
Supervise and manage the operation and maintenance of power plants, ensuring optimal performance.
Conduct root cause analysis for operational issues and implement corrective actions.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to enhance reliability and extend equipment life.
Regulatory and Compliance:
Ensure all projects and operations comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental laws.
Liaise with regulatory agencies and participate in audits and inspections as required.
Innovation and Sustainability:
Drive the implementation of innovative technologies and methodologies to increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Evaluate emerging trends in power generation, renewable energy, and sustainability initiatives, and integrate best practices into the operations.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports and documentation, including performance evaluations, operational analysis, and regulatory compliance records.
Present findings and recommendations to senior management, highlighting opportunities for improvement and innovation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in power generation, including hands-on experience with power plant operations, design, and maintenance.
Proven experience managing complex engineering projects and teams.
Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, such as wind, solar, storage, and biomass is a strong advantage.
Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Certifications in project management, such as PMP, are a plus.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
In-depth knowledge of power generation systems, including thermodynamic cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues.
Proficient in industry-standard software tools such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, PSS®E, DCS and CMMS and power system simulation software.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, including ISO, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in both office and field environments, with visits to power generation sites as required.
Travel to project sites and other company locations may be required.
